Historic Tax Credit Consulting
One incentive for having properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places is the use of tax credits for qualifying restoration work. KW Garner provides consultation on rehabilitation methods to ensure restoration activities qualify for either the Indiana residential credit or the Federal income-producing rehabilitation tax credit. Projects reviewed by KW Garner range in as little as $30,000 to $40 million in rehabilitation costs.
New Albany is home to two rehabilitation tax credit projects reviewed by KWG. The multi-story former bank building, the Elsby, is planned for hotel space, and the former National Stove Works complex, in the foreground, is planned for housing and multi-use entertainment. The Stove Works complex is part of a broader Northside Industrial National Register District, also authored by Garner.
